Giant Trance X2 2009

Mountain bikes reviews presents Giant Trance X2 2009

The Giant Trance X2 2009 was gifted to me by my uncle this year on my birthday. Biking being my passion sport I was al enthralled on seeing this conglomeration of toughness and attractive looks. My idea of wild biking on the toughest of the trails came to life as soon as I geared it up.

The lightweight of this giant maestro makes it a perfect drive for spinning ahead and clearing miles along without getting a feel of being stuffed out. And this can be contributed to its manipulated tube sets. The hovering pivot point suspension aids in maximizing the controls and Fox Float RP2 helps in taming the rear end for a smoother trail.

Its light and functional brakes come from the arena of Hayes stroker and the 180/160mm rotors keeps you on track during one of those trail binges. The tyres of this giant maestro comes from Kenda Nevegal and gives me a butter smooth ride, the cherry on the top being the soft material on the circumference of the tires.Overall, I feel that this bike is the duke of the tough trails and is the best gift for those who want to go beyond their fears.

Scott Ransom 30 2009 Review

Mountain bikes reviews presents Scott Ransom 30 2009 Review

Going beyond my fears last year, I tried my hands to take a ride at all new Scott ransom 30 trailing on the challenging mountain roads and undefined paths. Its vibrant shock absorbing and adjustability to the rapidly changing surfaces of area full of stones and rocks made my ride all more thrilling.

Scott Ransom 30 2009

Quite complex and weird in its looks, I found it to be a perfect option for mountain biking where its slack head angle and short bar gives you a much tighter control over it. It is amalgamated with all the features of carbon fiber class. The remote lever of handlebar allows you to toggle between smooth seed rebound and the rear shock.

This all new ransom features a distinctive Centerpoint technology. The Equalizer TC shock gave me the opportunity to select between the three travels modes having geometry at you finger touch. I choose to drive my bike crazy at traction mode out of the available “all travel” and “lockout” modes. These modes provide the real thrill of biking by altering the height of the bottom bracket and head angel as per the topology of the scene.

Scott Ransom 30 2009 weight of just 29.8 lbs and its versatile features it is all worthful to buy one just at a friendly price of £2009.00

Kore Gradient 2 Wheelset 2009

Mountain bikes reviews presents Kore Gradient 2 Wheelset 2009

There are very few wheels which can be an experience of smooth running, lightweight and fluent speed. But the Kore Gradient 2 Wheels can provide you that. I love this US brand of wheels for their sturdy and lightweight performance. I really got well with these lightweight hoops. For a long time I was looking for reasonable priced wheels which would pick up speed quickly. Then I found the Kore Gradient 2 Wheelset. The front wheel has 24-spoke and the rear is content with 28. As you lay down the power, the wheels pick speed so eagerly. The two-cross rims have double butted spokes.Kore Gradient 2 Wheelset 2009

I loved the performance of Kore Gradient 2 Wheelset a lot. The bearings of the hubs have sealed cartridges that run quite smooth and display great performance for grim weather riding. The seals protect the bearings for longevity. You need to service regularly to keep them going. Though the spoke tension declines over the time but the rim remains remarkably true to its nature. The polished black hubs look quite pretty with the silver adonised rims and CNC machined sidewalls. The front wheel weighs 752g and the rear wheel weighs 946g. The wheel sets are worthy for mountain bikes at the given price!

Time Speeder Veloce 2009 Review

Mountain bikes reviews presents Time Speeder Veloce 2009 Review

The Time Speeder sits at the bottom of the French company's road bike range, but its performance belies its lowly position, as we found out in the first instalment of our long-term test on this bike.

Time Speeder Veloce 2009 Review

At first glance, the Campagnolo Veloce-equipped Speeder looks unassuming. Another carbon weave frame with a common groupset, like so many cookie-cutter bikes out there. Why pay £1,714 when you could pick up an equivalently specced bike several hundred pounds cheaper?

It felt light, almost delicate, without being nervous. From the outset there were no iffy moments around corners: it simply went where we pointed it. Lots of bikes take more than a few rides to get used to their cornering characteristics. This one didn't, and that meant a more confident and enjoyable ride.

Although downshifting on Campagnolo Veloce was fine, we found upshifting to be too light and imprecise, almost like friction shifting. We got used to it over time but it was never a perfect marriage. Our mechanic confirmed everything was indexed correctly, so it seems that Veloce's new lighter upshifting is a feature rather than a bug.

A feeling of freedom, the pleasure of riding, out for a spin or in a race, for you the important thing is to feel at ease on reliable and polyvalent equipment. The SPEEDER frame was designed according to the TIME quality criteria and will bring you total satisfaction.

Mountain Bike Review: NEO Exile 2009

Mountain bikes reviews presents Mountain Bike Review: NEO Exile 2009

Finish is a glossy pearl white which sparkles slightly if you look hard enough. Pretty sharp. The finish on the rear dropouts left a bit to be desired, but with the wheels on it`s unnoticeable. The NEO and Exile decals look good, yet though they are under the clearcoat they are slightly raised. I`d prefer it flush but it`s a minor quibble. The monocoque frame has a smooth flow to it, especially around the headtube.

Technical Specifications

NEO Exile Frame, 57cm

The BB went in easily, flush fit. The headset needed a couple of washers to get a perfect fit though, had to go back to the LBS to get that sorted. Will probably upgrade that next pay-day. Seatpost looks cool, and is very simple, easy to get the right angle and position. (I have a FSA K-Force on the Cervelo, which has to be the most ridiculous seatpost ever designed...) Went with a SRAM Force crank due to wear and tear on my Red.

Climbing – this was where the NEO surprised me. It felt very frisky on the climb, really responsive – ready to go. I took it on the toughest climb around here, a 17km monster, and despite a downturn in the weather and the fact that I was in bulkyish thermals, I covered the climb in my average time. Any concerns about flex were dispelled. I certainly wouldn`t worry about turning up for hill-climb races on it.

KTM Bikes Revelator Master 2009 Review

Mountain bikes reviews presents KTM Bikes Revelator Master 2009 Review

As a frequent visitor to the Dakar Rally podium with its big twin motorcycles, and having unleashed the X-Bow on the automotive world, it’s tempting to just lump the KTM in with the likes of BMW, Mercedes or Land Rover as a cynical way to flog yet more vehicles that rely on the internal combustion engine.

A desire to expand into new markets explains its arrival on these shores, and the Revelator Master will certainly help the brand make its mark. It combines impeccable manners and a well designed frame with a top-notch Mavic wheelset.

Ride & handling: At its best when climbing or going very, very fast (7/10)

Out on the (dry) open road you can ride with sheer abandon thanks to an extra generous amount of trail (the distance the fork blades bend forwards relative to the perpendicular line of the fork steerer) – nearly 7cm, when 6cm is around the average.

KTM Bikes Revelator Master 2009 Review

The front end is super-light, offsetting the rail-like characteristics a bit while also ceding a bit of ground to the power of gusty crosswinds and turbulence. Out of saddle efforts are met with fast and furious acceleration, but require an extra bit of muscle to get the bike to swing while counteracting pedal strokes

Equipment: Flawless performance from Shimano Ultegra SL and Ritchey WCS kit (9/10)

KTM play the safe hand with mainly Shimano Ultegra SL for the core functions of transmission, shifting and braking. With a smoky blue-grey anodised finish, the high gloss adds an element of understated bling, complemented by the glossy black finish on the superb Ritchey bars and stem.

Wheels: Mavic Ksyriums offer ultra high performance that's beautiful to look at

Top honours must go to the Mavic Ksyrium SL wheels, a set of hoops with few rivals. Forged aluminium bladed spokes provide unquestionable strength and aerodynamic benefits, while the hubs have been redesigned with brawnier but lighter shells, big bearings and stout spoke anchor points. They accelerate quickly and are easy to keep rolling, yet when subjected to rocky towpath workouts they never waver.

Pivot Mach 5 XT 2009 review

Mountain bikes reviews presents Pivot Mach 5 XT 2009 review

The latest and highly demanded Pivot Mach 5 is truly a sports and sexy dw-link bike with travel of 5 inches. The patented suspension of dw-link design is named on the inventor, Dave Weagle. The designs by the inventor have been noticed to be mainly on the Iron Horse and are widely known as one of the best suspension designs in the entire market today. It is also one of the 3 dogs in the patented designs of suspension with VPP and Horst being the others.

Pivot Mach 5 XT 2009 review
Chris Cocalis, the owner of Pivot Cycles has utilized a large number of suspension designs in his bikes. Looking at the vital stats of the Pivot Mach 5, one can easily get awe inspired by the integrated bottom bracket, derailleur mount and the all stylish lower pivot axle. When having a glimpse of the bike’s overall design and angles, it is true to believe that it is a trusty trail bike with the ability to handle the all-day epics or any other short of the DH courses that one can throw at it.

Surprisingly, the bike is specially designed with the 92mm bracket shell at the bottom, housing pressed brilliantly in the Shimano XTR bearings with no external washers and threads or frame facing needed.
